The Nonce, a duo hip-hop from California, was active in the 1990s and was composed of Nouka Basetype (a.k.a. Sach Illpages) and Yusef Afloat. Unlike the prevailing Gangsta rap at the time, The Nonce was known for their comfortable jazz sampling and lazy singing. Member Yusef died in a car accident in 2000, and the group disbanded. "The Sight of Things" released in 1998 became their last work. This year it was reissued by the well-known German vinyl store HHV Records.
